Dr. Casey Halpern is the Division Head of Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery and an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at Penn Medicine. Dr. Halpern is affiliated with the Penn Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and Penn Movement Disorders Center. He specializes in advanced treatments for epilepsy, movement disorders, and mental health diseases. His research focuses on brain circuit mechanisms underlying conditions such as addiction, OCD, eating disorders, and obesity. Dr. Halpern develops cutting-edge neuromodulatory interventions, including deep brain stimulation, transcranial magnetic stimulation, and MR-guided focused ultrasound. Board-certified in Neurological Surgery since 2018, he completed his medical degree and residency at the University of Pennsylvania.
