Dr. Frederick S. Kaplan | CureTalks
Dr. Frederick S. Kaplan, an orthopaedic surgeon, is Chief of the Division of Molecular Orthopaedic Medicine at Penn Medicine and holds the Isaac and Rose Nassau Professorship of Orthopaedic Molecular Medicine. He along with his colleague Dr. Shore discovered the gene mutation that causes FOP. He specializes in rare musculoskeletal disorders, including Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP) and Progressive Osseous Heteroplasia (POH), and is affiliated with Penn Metabolic Bone Disease Services. Dr. Kaplan has been recognized in America's Top Doctors and Philadelphia Magazine's "Top Docs" for multiple years. He earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University and completed his residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
