Lisa Duncan | CureTalks
Lisa has been practicing yoga for about 20 years. She is a trained Yoga teacher. While her first love is Ashtanga yoga, these days she is also into a nice daily hour and 45 min of Vinyasa flow along with meditation and breathing. She even did these in her room during her tandem Stem Cell Transplants. She feels that yoga helps with the physical strength depleted by steroids which she has been on and off for three years. Yoga gives her flexibility and agility. The mental aspects helps to clam her down, stay present "in the moment". Lisa also teaches yoga at the Cook County Sheriff's Women's Justice Program since 1998. In 2012 she formed the non for profit Yoga for Recovery to support this work at the the prison to ensure sustainability and build collaborations with other service yoga for the community. Yoga is part of her treatment to help her get to Complete Remission which she hopes is soon.
