Dr. Maha Hussain | CureTalks
Dr. Maha Hussain is a tenured Professor of Medicine and Urology at the University of Michigan. She is the Associate Director for Clinical Research at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMCC), the Co-Leader of its Prostate Cancer/GU Oncology Program and the Associate Chief for Clinical Research at the Division of Hematology/ Oncology. Dr. Hussain is an internationally renowned clinical researcher and an expert in genitourinary malignancies particularly prostate and bladder cancers. Her research efforts are focused on the development of novel therapeutics integrating scientific advances into clinical trials for prostate and bladder cancer. At the national level Dr. Hussain serves/has served in a variety of leadership capacities. She has served as the co-chair for the Prostate Cancer sub-committee of SWOG GU committee. In that role she guided national research in areas of advanced prostate cancer that lead to changing standards of care. She is a member of the FY12 Integration Panel (IP) of US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command Prostate Cancer Research Program (PCRP) and the IP’s 2013 Chair. She has served as a member of the NCI-Cancer Biomarker Study Section and the NCI’s Prostate cancer task force. Dr. Hussain is an FDA consultant and has served as a member and the Chair for the FDA Oncology Drug Advisory Committee (ODAC), chair of the Education Committee of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), Chair for 2011 ASCO Genitourinary Cancer Symposium Program Committee and a member of the 2012 and 2013 ASCO-GU Symposium Steering Committee in addition to other institutional, regional and national service and leadership roles.
